May 14, 2012 – Local job growth over the past year put Johnson City in the top 25 percent of small cities nationwide, the best in Tennessee, according to 2012 rankings of 243 small cities by “New Geography.”
Higher education in Washington County and downtown Johnson City will both get a boost in coming months when Northeast State Community College commences class offerings at its new teaching site in the Downtown Centre.
The Washington County Economic Development Council has released its Inaugural Report. The 12-page document highlights numerous successes achieved since the Council began its work in the fall of 2010.
April 27, 2012 -- Washington County’s 6.5 percent March unemployment rate was Tennessee’s fourth-lowest and is significantly lower than state and national averages, preliminary figures released Thursday by the state show.
The management team at Fiber Innovation Technology, a Johnson City company, has nearly completed an expansion thanks in part to help from state and local economic development incentives.
